As many of us heard the tragic news about Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna and seven others who were killed in a helicopter crash Sunday, out thoughts naturally went from “How Sad” to “Why did this happen to him and his daughter at such young ages?” Kobe was only 41 and just getting started in his new life “After the NBA” with his family and friends. Surely he had many years left, leaving wants and wishes unfulfilled… yet what a life he had. He was (and still is) a legend in basketball and sports in general. He scored 33,643 points and collected five NBA Championship Rings before retiring from the league a few years ago. I lost my Dad at age 54 and that seemed way too young for someone to die and not be around for weddings and grandkids and those Golden Years most people look forward to all their lives.
A stunned nation and world spent most the day reaching out and paying tribute to Kobe and his legacy. It was reported early Sunday and the news spread throughout the day….with NFL Football players at the Pro Bowl showing respect, to a number of tributes during the Grammys as well as all media outlets around the world mention Kobe and what had happened. Kobe Bryant will long be remembered and adored. We should all hope for such a full life…..it’s just too bad it ended so soon….R.I.P. Kobe.
